A price increase is shown in red and a decrease in green from a buyer’s perspective. Models without five qualifying snapshots spanning at least 24 hours stay visible as insufficient history instead of publishing a shaky percentage move.

How the index works

A snapshot qualifies for index pricing only when it has at least 3 eligible eBay listings. A model needs at least 5 qualifying snapshots, and its first 5 qualifying snapshots must span at least 24 hours. The model baseline is the median of those first 5 snapshot medians; the current comparison price is the median of its latest 3 qualifying snapshot medians. Models also need a qualifying observation within the last 7 days. Category movement is the median percentage change across comparable models, with each model weighted equally.

Raw stored history is not rewritten when these reliability rules change. The index is a derived view over the original observations.
